Escape to the Country

Do you love the peace and calm of the countryside but like the option of having lots of places to explore just a short drive away?

Wyndthorpe Cottage is the perfect holiday retreat, set in the tranquil grounds of our home, with the most stunning views across the Dorset countryside. There’s a wide selection of local attractions, including beautiful walks, cycle routes, forests and the stunning Jurassic coastline, it really does offer the best of both worlds. We guarantee you’ll never be bored in this beautiful part of Dorset. We’re also dog-friendly and happy for you to bring up to a maximum of two medium-sized dogs to stay, there’s plenty of lovely walks nearby for them to enjoy.

Come in and make yourself at home

The bright and welcoming living space is comfortable and modern with underfloor heating throughout. It’s the perfect place to relax or socialise and enjoy the beautiful views across the pretty front garden to the Dorset countryside beyond.

The living space is perfect for couples and families with a comfortable three-seater sofa, armchair and television. There’s also a dining table with four chairs.
The kitchen is well-equipped and has all the mod cons you could wish for including an electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge/freezer, Nespresso coffee machine, washing machine and breakfast bar with stools – a real home from home. Oh… and there’s a lovely welcome hamper filled with Dorset delights, so you don’t have to worry about heading to the shops as soon as you arrive.

Sleep on the comfiest beds ever

Wyndthorpe Cottage sleeps up to 4 people. There are two good-sized double bedrooms with 6’ super-king beds, one of which can be converted into 3’ twin beds if desired, just let us know in advance which you’d prefer and we’ll have the beds made up and ready for your arrival.

We want you to have the best nights sleep when you stay at Wyndthorpe Cottage which is why all our beds are Millbrook Beds, a company that was owned by my family until recently, and started by my grandfather, Walter Croll, in 1946. We have these beds in our own home and can honestly say they are the most comfortable we’ve ever slept on. There is also a generous size bathroom with a large walk-in shower.

Relax in the garden and enjoy the views

This idyllic retreat is set in a peaceful location situated on the edge of the historic and pretty village of Milton Abbas, ideally located for walks through the surrounding woodland. Alternatively, you can relax and enjoy the view in your own private garden.

Set in a valley in the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there are lots of short and middle-distance walks from the village that offer a range of opportunities to explore the downs, traditional woodland, pretty valleys and peaceful villages. Nearby Bulbarrow Hill is a popular walking and picnic spot, giving the longest view in Dorset, with spectacular views over five counties.
