The Royal Oak
This family-run and owned, family-friendly freehouse is in the nearby traditional Dorset village of Milborne St Andrew. The Royal Oak offers a delicious range of food and drink and has been voted the best Sunday lunch in Dorset.
The Hambro Arms
Located in the picture postcard historical village of Milton Abbas The Hambro Arms is just a short stroll from the cottage. Why not take a walk and see the pretty village and round it off with a choice of local ales or a glass of wine?
The Fox Inn
Just 5 miles down the road in Antsy The Fox is a quintessential English inn that has all the charms of a country pub with a modern twist. Owned and run by the farming family across the road at Brewery Farm, as much produce as possible comes directly from there or is locally sourced. Relax in one of the beer gardens and enjoy a fresh, locally sourced meal.
The Ibberton
The Ibberton is a 16th Century inn complete with original features such as flagstone floors, beams and an inglenook fireplace with a bread oven. There are two gardens with a stream running through them. Offering a good selection of homemade, seasonal, and local food all cooked on the premises to enjoy with a pint of local bitter, Dorset cider.
The Thimble Inn
This historic thatched 18th-century pub and restaurant offers a warm, and friendly welcome. Executive chef and proprietor Michal Trawicki leads a team of chefs to create an innovative menu of seasonal dishes using the best Dorset produce and caters for all dietary requirements. There are two beautiful gardens to enjoy, with streams, a wooded copse and views across the Piddle Valley.
Steeptonbill Farm Shop
This award-winning farm shop is situated on the edge of Milton Abbas where you can get a great selection of local produce, including meat, dairy and vegetables. They also serve food are open from 9 am til 8 pm for breakfast, lunch, dinner and everything in between.
Brace of Pheasants
This award-winning, family-friendly inn is a little further afield (less than 10 miles), but the Brace of Pheasants is well worth a visit. Serving a range of traditional and contemporary cuisine with a real flavour of Dorset along with fine wines and cask beers. On sunny days the garden is lovely to relax in and on colder evenings there’s an open fire to keep away the chills.
Vineyard Café
For something a little more special treat yourself to a visit to The Langham Wine Estate’s café where you can enjoy brunch, lunch and afternoon tea. For cooler months, they have some indoor tables in the cosy tasting room, plus the barn is fitted with infrared heaters and blankets are available. We recommend you dress for the weather.
The Greyhound Inn
The Greyhound uses locally sourced produce and offers comforting, home-cooked pub food. It’s also home to a small ‘village shop’, selling newspapers and local produce including fresh bread, freshly cooked pastries on weekends, and fresh ground coffee to drink in or take away. They also have an outside undercover area at the front of the pub with seating if you fancy eating al fresco.
Dorset's Crafty Barn & Tearoom
This little tearoom serves tea in china teacups and offers a selection of homemade cakes. Just a short distance from the cottage, on the way to Milborne St Andrew, The Barn is home to the work of local artists and crafters. Everything is either handmade in Dorset, upcycled or vintage.
