Dorset is the perfect destination for family holidays, there’s so much to do and see. Here’s just a small selection of the attractions on offer.

  • Monkey World

    Enjoy a fun-filled, fascinating day out for all the family at Monkey World – a 65-acre Ape Rescue Centre in Wareham. Daily keepers’ talks provide a captivating insight into life at the park and its inhabitants - staff are so enthusiastic about what they do, giving a real feel-good factor. Pre-bookable guided tours are also available and offer the chance to learn more about the primate’s past lives. The park is well laid out and spacious for both humans and primates alike.

  • Dinosaurland Fossil Museum

    This is private museum is owned and run by Palaeontologist Steve Davies and his wife Jenny. The museum contains a spectacular collection of the local Jurassic marine fossils. The collection grows each year and is now probably the best fossil collection on public display in South West England. The collection includes complete Ichthyosaur specimens and full-scale models and dinosaur scenes with sound effects, live reptiles, birds and fish.

  • Weymouth Sea Life

    Home to over 2,500 creatures as well as Pisces III, a famous 20ft-long 'small' submarine, which in 1973 endured a dramatic rescue with two crew on board in a 72-hour ordeal. Spread over 5 acres of land Sea Life has the largest man-made rockpool in the country. Experience the 24-hour wonder of a coral reef as it moves from night to day in the re-imagined Ocean Tunnel display. There’s also the Caribbean Cove Galleon adventure playground.

  • Create at the Cove

    Get creative at this unique, all-weather venue and choose from a huge range of craft kits, fossil digging, model making, painting your own pottery, colouring and painting and much more -you can even make your own cuddly toy. Old and young are welcome to join in and have a go. There really is something for everyone, with prices starting from as little as £2. To avoid disappointment, please pre-book a table, sessions are 10 am-12 pm, 12.30 pm-14.30 pm and 3 pm-5 pm.

  • Boverton Tank Museum

    The Tank Museum brings the story of tanks and their crews to life. The museum houses 300 military machines, representing the key battles of every major conflict since the First World War. The moving exhibitions tell the story of this British invention; from the mud of the Somme to the beaches of Normandy and the deserts of Iraq – featuring powerful stories from the soldiers that fought in them. Parking is free and there’s a restaurant onsite that serves sandwiches and hot food.

  • Wimborne Model Village

    The vintage miniature world of Wimborne Model Town offers the visitor the opportunity to walk around the Wimborne Town Centre of more than 65 years ago with over 100 shops, banks, cafes, a river system, two sets of public toilets and a ringing phone box. There are extensive gardens to relax and enjoy the view with Wendy Street, an enclosed play area for younger visitors. Don't forget the giant storyteller's chair. You can play a round of crazy golf for just £1.25 per person and there’s also a gift shop and cafe.
